The three pictures in this photo series depict a person in different situations at parties. The first picture shows the person sitting on the floor surrounded by blue light. The second picture shows two people talking on a sofa surrounded by orange light. The last picture has the same protagonist on the right side with a star above his head and indicated group of people on the left side, all surrounded by blue light with a strong contrast.
The photo series ALLEINE MIT DEN ANDEREN explores the feeling of loneliness within a social space. The setting is a party place typically associated with connection and shared experience. Yet, even in the midst of a crowd, emotional distance and isolation can emerge: loneliness despite being among others.
The photographic approach follows a real person at an actual event, allowing for an authentic depiction of the situation. The same individual appears in every scene — through body language, gaze, and composition, a sense of inner absence is conveyed. Contrasts between light and shadow, proximity and distance, further emphasize the feeling of solitude.
Viewers are invited to reflect on the tension between outward presence and inner experience. Too often, the quiet facets of human interaction remain unnoticed.
