ARTWORK
Soil Memories
ABOUT
My work centers on handmade paper sculptures made from local plant fibers, shaped into translucent forms that emit gentle light. These pieces are designed to be dissolvable and reformed, emphasizing impermanence, sustainability, and material flexibility. I consider the entire space as part of the artwork, transforming rooms and corridors into immersive fields of light and shadow. Viewers play an essential role – their bodies intersect the space, casting shadows that become part of the work. This creates a shifting, participatory environment where perception constantly changes. Influenced by Zen philosophy and visual psychology, I explore how we divide the world into categories like figure and ground, self and other. My installations challenge these boundaries, inviting a non-dual awareness where the artwork, the viewer, and the space merge into a fluid, continuous experience. Through light and paper, I aim to create works that are humble yet transformative, rooted in both material and thought.
