In this project, I delved deeper into my political motivation with “Anima Klecksografie”, particularly exploring how it can serve as a tool in the fight against fascism. Not only does it break old patterns and provide us with deeper insights into our unconscious, but this form of moving image is also a protest against marginalization and the disturbing situation with image-creating artificial intelligence.
For my project, I utilized various assets that I had created using “Klecksografie” methods. While working with modifiers, I discovered that the random movements in the animation created countless new objects that had little to no resemblance to the original object; this resulted in an extensive library of OBJ files. When exploring 3D materials, I created surfaces using analogue “Klecksografie”: I made colorful artwork with a pen and UV-reactive acrylic pigments, and then created different types of shaders in TouchDesigner, such as color, metal, roughness, and reflectivity, before applying them to objects in Blender. In total, three packages were created with varying surface qualities, ranging from matte to glossy to translucent. For the final result, I decided on an object and a surface, which were then brought into a new form in TouchDesigner Instancing — as an homage to Hermann Rorschach, with a vertical mirror axis. The system reacts to movement and Dadaist psytrance.
