OPEN SPACE DOMSHOF at Night

We will present media artworks for the three nights at the OPEN SPACE DOMSHOF stage. For the night session at the OPEN SPACE DOMSHOF on 10 July 2025, we are looking for media artworks for public screening. We invite local, regional, and national artists, designers, media workers, and creatives — from HfK students, HfK Alumni/ae, and all artists interested in working with a students’ collective and participating in a new public art format.

LOOKING FOR THE SMALL THINGS

We are looking for artworks that can function like a footnote in the city’s vast, often unreadable text, drawing attention to what is usually ignored or suppressed: ignored situations, hidden histories, invisible labor, ecological traces, and more. We are interested in existing works and we are open to new ideas.

The function of footnotes inspires us: They can be a source, a fragment, a reference, or a comment. With FOOTNOTES, we value small things and a sense of discovery rather than monumental gestures. We welcome proposals from artists working across media who are interested in fostering public dialogue and fruitful exchange through thoughtful and transformative interventions.

We would like to present media artworks that impress not through volume but resonate longer. We would love to encourage passers-by to pause, take a closer look, and spend the evening with us, driven by curiosity for more. We are excited to learn about your perspective on this.

STUDENTS’ COLLECTIVE

The MEDIA ART LAB is an experimental public art project. It was developed in the framework of the EXHIBIT class by students of Digital Media, Fine Art, and Integrated Design at the University of the Arts Bremen: Ashley Twumasi, Johanna Baumgart, Matteo Antoniazzi, Merve Can, Sumin Lee, Thu Giang Ngo, and Yeonjae Kim. Mentored by Bettina Pelz, we form a transcultural and transdisciplinary collective. We will curate the art projects on display and associate creative actions with public conversations.

10 JUL 2025

FOOTNOTES will be presented publicly on 10 July from 10:00 PM to Midnight. There is no other remuneration, just the joy of experimenting with us.

16:10

The SCREEN will be 447 x 226 cm. We project with a 15,000 ANSI lumens projector (Epson EB-L1755U). The screen’s ratio is 16:10, and the resolution is 1920×1200 px. A sound set is on-site.

.mp4

All files should be in .mp4 format.
